Are you planning a trip to Roatan in the near future? If so, you’re in luck. The island has an abundance of delicious restaurants offering a variety of cuisines and flavors. From seafood to Mexican and everything in between, there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to dining on the island.
Get ready for a culinary adventure! Here is my list of 10 restaurants you must try while visiting Roatan, Honduras.
1. Azul Restaurant (Blue Roatan)
This fancy dinner restaurant is located in West Bay in Roatan Honduras. They serve Michelin star worthy level meals for reasonable prices. When we went, they had the best steak and fish on the island. Plus, the chocolate lava desert was amazing.
This is me and Bennett’s favorite place to go for a romantic date night. They are a bit pricier than most of the beachfront places, and you have to take a taxi to get there, but the food is so worth it. In terms of price, they are about the same as any medium level steak house in America, which isn’t too bad.
2. Luna Muna By Ibagari
I’ve only been to Ibagari once, because it’s one of the most expensive (and fanciest) places to eat on the island. If you’re visiting Roatan for your honeymoon or don’t mind spending a pretty penny of good food and a romantic atmosphere, this is the place for you.
Bennett and I went here for Valentine’s day. I got the special menu for the night (I was too hungry to remember to take a picture), which included a garlic sauce with warm bread, creamy mushroom-topped steak, lobster bisque, and blueberry cheesecake.
I loved my meal. However, I will warn you, that the lobster bisque had so many shells. I have noticed on the island at all restaurants, that they don’t de-shell the seafood in most seafood soups. I’m not knocking off points for this because it seems to be a common theme among all restaurants in Roatan.
3. Argentina Grill
This is my grandma’s favorite place to eat on the whole island because it’s right next to our condo (located in Mayan Princess) and has the best steaks on the whole island.
Most restaurants offer steak, but there is something about the way that Argentinian Grill prepares their food that knocks everyone else out of the park.
Nestled on the coastline of west bay, this steakhouse is a staple to most residents on the beach for fancy outings. If you want the juiciest and best steak then this is the place to go.
4. Gula Gastrobar & Winery
Gula is a unique place to eat because of its variance in atmospheres. Downstairs, there is beachfront, outdoor seating. The vibe on the lower level is not a no-shoes type of laid back, but still fairly basic.
Upstairs, the restaurant is transformed into a totally different world. You could definitely get away with wearing heels and a dress here. It feels really fancy, but since most customers don’t realize it’s an option, it’s essentially like private dining. We got two bottles of sparkling white wine, a tasting dish (included appetizers, an entree, and dessert), and two pizzas.
Our total was only $75. It’s affordable, but arguably one of the best places to eat in all of Roatan.
5. Naboo Resort Restaurant
My grandfather (pictured on the left) lives in Roatan 4 months of the year and has quickly become good friends with the owner of Naboo’s pool-front restaurant. The first time we went, we greeted promptly and chose a table. The menu was large, but not too large.
We quickly found out that they were best known for their homemade pasta noodles. I’ve been to Italy, France, and just about any other country known for pasta, and I’ve never had noodles as good as Naboo’s. They offer basic pastas, with a choice of white or red sauce. This is a must-try if you’re in the mood for italian food in Roatan!
6. Trattoria Da Piero Restaurant Bar
Trattoria Da Piero was one of the first restaurants I ate at when I started traveling to Roatan. Located on West Bay Beach, it’s about a two minute walk down the dock at the end of the bay. It’s hidden away, making it one of Roatan’s best hidden gems.
We went for dinner but tried something off the lunch and dinner menu. Bennett ordered the fish tacos (lunch) and they were delicious (we ended up getting lunch there the next day). I ordered the sea food pasta, and yes, it is as tasty as it looks.
7. Bananarama
Bananarama is located right on West Bay Beach. Aside from being a staple restaurant and bar, it’s also a great place to stay! Most of the resorts/hotels in Roatan are also known for their great food, and Bananarama is no exception.
This is a must for people looking for a lively atmosphere. Every night they have something different going on, from fire dances, karaoke, and even a live band. They offer American-styled food, like pizzas, burgers, salads, etc.
8. Cafe De Palo
Cafe de Palo is my favorite place to go for a nice coffee and breakfast. With a beautiful lookout over half-moon bay, I love to bring a book (currently obsessed with Bridgerton), and lay on the “no-shoes” carpet. From kombucha to smoothies to simple iced coffee, I love coming here to work on my blog and enjoy a refreshing drink.
